Our 2023-2024 Invent Girls Program has officially wrapped up at

San Fernando High School and Sylmar High School!

The Invent Girls hosted a STEM Expo where students showcased their Digital Safes – Arduino-based, personalized safes featuring either a fingerprint scanner or RFID (tap card) locking mechanism – to an audience of loved ones, STEM professionals, and DIY Girls supporters. We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication to the program, overcoming challenges, embracing their creativity and ingenuity, and eloquently presenting the projects they’ve diligently worked on over the past year. Daniela, an 11th grader in our Invent Girls program, shared, “DIY Girls was an amazing experience as I learned different things that I wouldn’t have if I weren’t in this club. I felt comfortable and confident when learning and teaching my peers about the different areas that were used in our project. I got to meet many people from other grades and we created a bond which I’ll be thankful for.”

We’re thrilled to announce that we will be expanding this program to a third high school this coming fall! Thank you to their loved ones for encouraging their continued participation in our program and to our supporters for helping us make the Invent Girls program possible! Making an impact in the lives of our students is a community effort, and we deeply appreciate your partnership and support!

Special shoutout to our graduating seniors – Adanelly, Alexis, Cynthia, Kimberly, Aracely, Brianna, Elizabeth, Elsia, Joanna, Lizette, and Priscilla – for their dedication and accomplishments! All 11 of them are headed to college, pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Marketing, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Computer Science, Journalism, Electrical Engineering, and Nursing. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to seeing them grow into intelligent, influential leaders. Their future is bright, and we are committed to continuing to be a resource for them as they navigate this exciting new chapter in their lives.
