IndigenARTech – Fall 2026 – Application Form

For the first time, DIY Girls and Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural & Bookstore are teaming up to bring the community a one-of-a-kind program!

This program will blend physical computing with painting, explored through a Mesoamerican Indigenous lens. Students will explore color theory, composition, and art terminology while learning about Indigenous history. In the Fall, youth will paint a Día De Los Muertos Altar with Indigenous iconography. Once their paintings are complete, students will integrate electrical engineering, learning to design circuits and solder LED lights. This hands-on process builds technical skills, teamwork, self-confidence, and a strong sense of cultural identity.

The program will begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and conclude on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. The program will run from 5 PM – 7 PM at Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural & Bookstore (12677 Glenoaks Blvd., Sylmar, CA 91342).

This program is FREE and open to ALL YOUTH currently enrolled in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.

*Priority will be given to students who live in the San Fernando Valley.

To enroll your student in the program, please fill out this registration form by Friday, September 18, 2026. The program has limited space. Enrollment will be confirmed via email and text messages by Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
