From DIY Girls to Rising Engineers!
We’re thrilled to spotlight three inspiring DIY Girls alumni—Karimar, Cecilia, and Lori—who are taking exciting next steps toward their engineering careers through internships with our amazing partners!

Karimar is currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at UC Irvine. This summer, she’ll be interning at a Suffolk Construction site in Los Angeles—a connection she made at our bi-annual DIY Girls Alumni Mixer! Karimar is eager to dive into hands-on learning and gain real-world experience in the engineering industry.
“After connecting with Suffolk, I had the opportunity to tour one of their project sites. Through this, I learned that their values and work aligned with my goals. I am excited to gain on-site experience with a company that works for communities throughout the nation because my passion lies in helping others.”

Cecilia, a senior at UC Berkeley, is majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Thanks to a connection through DIY Girls, she’ll be interning at Evisions this summer. With graduation around the corner, she’s excited to explore career paths in computer science and software development.
“I’m hoping to learn more about the different fields I can explore in computer science and programming and just further my knowledge. I’m also hoping to potentially get hired because I’m graduating soon and I’m looking for a full time job.”

Lori is a senior at UC Riverside, where she studies Environmental Engineering. She discovered the Evisions internship through our DIY Girls alumni program, GANAS, and is excited to join the team this summer. Her goal? To see the full lifecycle of a product and understand how engineering departments work together to bring it to life.
“I learned about Evisions through the DIY Girls alumni program, GANAS, where many fellow alumni shared positive experiences. I’m eager to gain a deeper understanding of the process behind developing a successful product across each department of its creation.”
