Cristina Gutierrez Medina as New Executive Director

We’re thrilled to announce that following a thoughtful search process, the DIY Girls Board of Directors has selected Cristina Gutierrez Medina, our Senior Director of Programs and Partnerships, as the new Executive Director of DIY Girls! Cristina will work closely with our current Executive Director, Leticia Rodriguez, throughout the month of November to ensure a smooth and successful leadership transition.

A Leader Deeply Connected to Our Mission and Community

Cristina joined DIY Girls in 2017 as Director of Programs and has been an integral part of the organization’s growth and impact ever since. She was instrumental in our strategic planning process and has successfully led our programs and external partnerships over the last eight years. A proud San Fernando native and graduate of San Fernando High School, Cristina has dedicated her career to expanding educational opportunities in her community. After earning her B.A. in Spanish and a minor in Education and Applied Psychology from UC Santa Barbara, she returned home to support local students through roles at Harding Elementary and Project GRAD Los Angeles. We know that under Cristina’s leadership, DIY Girls will continue to thrive. Cristina shared her excitement for this next chapter, saying:

“I’m excited to step into the Executive Director role because it represents both a personal milestone and a natural continuation of my journey with DIY Girls. This leadership moment is especially meaningful because it reflects the same journey we hope to inspire in our students: believing you can do hard things, finding confidence in your skills, and stepping into leadership to create lasting impact. I look forward to stewarding DIY Girls into its next chapter with the same heart and purpose that have always defined us.”

As Cristina steps into this new role, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Leticia for her leadership and dedication. We’re excited to embark on this next chapter together and look forward to all that’s ahead for DIY Girls. Please join us in congratulating Cristina Gutierrez Medina on this exciting new chapter of leadership. We’re confident that under her guidance, DIY Girls will continue to empower the next generation to dream big, build boldly, and create lasting change.
